Our brand new ZKAT, a Z-Type Goldmann Applanation Tonometer (GAT), is a versatile measurement device for a wide variety of Z-Style slit lamps with lower illumination.  Fully mechanical, it can be used and calibrated without the need for battery power.

Usage overview

All Keeler Applanation Tonometers (KATs) use the Goldmann method of measuring intraocular pressure (IOP), which involves calculating the force required to flatten a constant area of the cornea (3.06mm in diameter). The force is applied to the cornea by correct use of the slit lamp, applanation tonometer and tonometer prism. This method is trusted globally, as the ‘gold-standard’ for accuracy, to aid in the diagnosis of glaucoma.

We offer three variants of GAT.  Designed to be used with tower-illumination style slit lamps, the R-Type is mounted on the optical body post for a secure fix, whilst the T-Type can easily be removed for wider use within a multiple slit lamp practice. The Z-Type is designed for use with lower-illumination style slit lamps. All three devices are intended for use by suitably trained and authorised healthcare professionals only.

The ZKAT can be mounted onto a Keeler Z-style slit lamp using the Z-Type post accessory. Please speak to your local Keeler representative for advice on accessories and suitability for mounting onto slit lamps from other manufacturers.
