Course description
With ever increasing patient expectations and the advent of advanced technology intraocular lenses, cataract surgery has now moved into the realm of refractive surgery. This demands that cataract surgeons and technicians must take a team approach, continuously evaluating the accuracy of pre-operative measurements, IOL calculations, and surgical techniques.
Everyone on the team must understand the following: intraocular lenses and their constants, what affects post-operative lens position, which modern calculation formulas are recommended, best practices for keratometry, the nuances of toric IOL calculations, the principles involved in both optical and ultrasound biometry and ensuring proper alignment, best practices for measuring and calculating challenging eyes such high myopes, those with macular disease, and those that have had prior refractive surgery.
This comprehensive course will discuss all of these aspects and will strive to ensure that all attendees leave with an understanding of the tools needed for premium, refractive cataract surgery
